The Endless Blue
In some ways the Void is less unnatural than Etherspace; it’s not technically a separate dimension, merely the cold darkness that fills the emptiness between worlds and stars. But the Void is also a much deadlier place to visit; temperatures are lower than any spot on any planet, there is no air to breathe, gravity ceases to exist on a human scale, and bizarre anomalies abound. Still, it’s full of valuable treasures – mineral-rich moons and asteroid fields, derelict ships, and the ruins of dead civilizations call to those seeking fame and fortune. All vessels are capable of at least short-term operation in the Void but almost never travel long distances through it, only dropping out of etherspace for navigation purposes or at preset beacons, though of course there are a few groups who dedicate themselves to exploration.
